What is a GBC (Great Ball Contraption), and how can I build one?

A LEGO model that moves tiny balls or objects from one location to another is called a Great Ball Contraption, or GBC for short. In reality, these models are called modules, and they may be connected to form a lovely chain of devices that move the balls aesthetically!

Since a picture speaks a thousand words, here is a fun and intriguing series of GBC modules that work together to create a closed loop:

These modules adhere to a basic standard that ensures they can be joined together. Working with the remainder of the 'chain' of modules allows for tremendous innovation inside each module.

Our resident authority on GBCs is Polo, one of our designers from Planet GBC, who also runs a website dedicated to these modules.

We can give you a whole kit on Mocmodel that has all the LEGO components and building instructions you need to assemble one of these fantastic devices. Could you take a look at our GBC machines?
